Storyteller or Author?

Difference Between Storyteller, Interviewer, and Editor

To keep things clear and respectful for everyone involved, here's a simple explanation of the different roles:

  1. Storyteller (Narrator)
    – This is the person who shares their memories or experiences in an interview.
    – Without their story, there would be no article.
    – They speak freely – usually not in written form.
  2. Interviewer
    – The person who asks the questions and listens.
    – They help guide the conversation and make sure the most important parts are shared.
  3. Editor / Writer
    – This is the person who takes the spoken words and turns them into a readable, written story.
    – They may adjust the structure, grammar, or language while keeping the meaning and spirit of the story.
    – The editor is usually considered the legal author of the final written version (according to copyright law), but the voice of the storyteller remains central.
